A GARDENER created a 'Thank You NHS' garden on wasteland in Sutton.

Dawn Barrett from Dawn’s Gardening Service carried out the work without charge with support from residents and other professionals.

The project began after Dawn started offering discounts to NHS staff during the Covid-90 lockdown.

She was contacted by a Sutton villager, who works for the NHS at Airedale Hospital, to 'fix' a piece of waste ground at the end of The Hawthorns.

Dawn's sister Nikki said: "Dawn decided to turn it into a Thank You Garden by donating plants and her labour. BK Growers donated some plants, then local residents donated topsoil.

"The difference is amazing and is generating a lot of positive local interest. Dawn said, 'If it makes someone smile when they see it then I’ve done my job'."
