A SERIES of outdoor concerts are planned for stately homes in North Yorkshire over the August bank holiday weekend and the first weekend of September.

Audiences can enjoy popular bands from their own designated picnic patch - for two, four or six people - which will be socially distanced from others but “close enough to share the fun”.

Sounds in the Grounds concerts will be fully-staged productions with LED screens on either side of the stage.

Beyond the Barricade, with guest star Lockie Chapman, former lead singer of The Overtones, will perform songs from the world’s greatest musicals on August 28 at Scampston Hall and September 4 at Ripley Castle).

ABBA Mania will offer flares, platforms and all your favourite hits from the Swedish supergroup on August 29 at Scampston Hall and September 5 at Ripley Castle.

The Bootleg Beatles, the world’s best-known Beatles tribute band and a Glastonbury favourite, will perform on August 30 at Scampston Hall and September 3 at Ripley Castle.

A Country Night in Nashville, a celebration of country music with songs from its biggest stars both past and present, completes the line-up in August 31 at Scampston Hall and September 6 at Ripley Castle.

Support act for all the concerts will be Glastonbury performers The New York Brass Band, performing a different repertoire every night, from jazz to 80s to current hits.

Sounds in the Grounds concerts are designed to comply with all official guidance on Covid-19, ensuring audiences can enjoy live music outdoors in a safe and responsible way.
