THE CRICKETERS pub in Keighley celebrated its reopening by presenting £500 to Dementia Friendly Keighley.
The pub on Coney Lane operates a ‘100 Club’ for regulars which each week raises money for charities including DFK. Before reopening this week following lockdown, pub manager Helen Willoughby invited 100 Club members along so it could give its new safety measures a trial run.
DFK treasurer Maggie Marsden was also invited along to meet the 100 Club and collect the cheque on the charity’s behalf.
She said: “Everything was running very smoothly when I got to the Cricketers; it certainly felt like a safe place to go for a drink and meet friends. We are so pleased to accept the cheque for £500. It’s the second time we have received a donation from the the 100 Club and we are grateful for their continued support.”
Debbie Ellison, of the 100 Club, said: “We’re glad to see the donation going to such a good cause. It obviously has not been easy for Dementia Friendly Keighley over the last few months and we are happy to be able to help in this way.”
