THE "INCREDIBLE resilience" of Oakworth people during the Covid-19 pandemic has been praised by town councillor Luke Maunsell.

The councillor will also acknowledge local heroes like Tom Moore in the latest edition of the newsletter he distributes to every household in his ward of Oakworth.

The outlying hamlets of Newsholme and Oldfield are also on the distribution list for the publication, which began in 2018.

Cllr Maunsell said: "The newsletters are very well received by locals. They keep residents informed, get them engaged in local issues, and push local campaigns.

"In the latest letter I will update residents on my recent work, such as reporting fly tipping. The letters will be delivered alongside leaflets for the Oakworth Lottery run by the Oakworth Community Trust."

Cllr Maunsell said previous newsletters had enabled him to run a community survey and highlight his health issues.

He added: "The newsletters are important as a direct point of contact with my constituents, as well as providing a unique opportunity to get out and about in my beautiful ward and its idyllic rural areas.

"I look forward to delivering them and hearing from local people once more. I believe in accountability in politics and in giving the people I serve a chance to hold me to account and to keep me updated on any issues they need help with.

"It will also be a delight to distribute leaflets for the Oakworth Lottery at the same time and hope many use them to sign up. After all, you have to be in it to win it!"
