A FANTASTIC first half display and a spirited performance in the second half saw Bradford (Park Avenue) Ladies come out on top 6-3 in a thrilling contest against Brighouse Sports.

Both teams had early chances before Kirsty Russell-Holt opened the scoring for Avenue.

Despite two good saves by Amy Jones, Brighouse were stunned to find themselves 3-0 down after Russell-Holt's second and a Nat Bell strike.

The half concluded with a penalty award, safely put away by Russell-Holt to make it 4-0.

After the break, Brighouse were soon on the attack, as Leanne Smith smashed the ball into the bottom corner.

Headers from Debbie Dangerfield and Lyndsey Hopton saw Sports almost level at 4-3, but almost immediately Russell-Holt scored her fourth of the day.

The game ended with a fine solo effort from Ikra Ali to make it 6-3.

Silsden had a good first half, away at Regional League side Nelson.

Rebecca Seward made some excellent saves but the Dragons were 2-0 down at half-time.

Elly Field scored in the second half, with Laura Thurling also making some good saves, but the game finished 5-1 to Nelson.

Ilkley Town's Heather Fisher-Pedley scored both goals in their close 2-1 win against Skipton Town.

Thackley took the spoils with a 3-0 win against a young, fast Bradford City reserve side, who proved a good test for the Dennygirls.

Megan Butterworth opened the scoring on the half-hour mark, and the second half saw a penalty save by Katie Bailey and a brace from new signing Jenna Wraith.

Meanwhile, Bradford City's first team were 2-0 down after 15 minutes at Rotherham United.

They clawed back a goal before the break, with Harriet Jakeman's 20-yard strike making it all square at the end.

Farsley Celtic Women won 8-2 in a re-arranged game at Hull United, including two from Ellie Casper and a debut goal from new signing Caitlin Bates.

In other games, Brighouse Town Women beat Lincoln United 6-0 and Farsley Junior Reserves won 7-5 at Hall Farm.
