THREE popular comediennes are preparing to perform at the studio next to Bradford Alhambra in the first few months of 2021.

Janey Godley will perform her Soup Pot show on April 20, Bec Hill will be Out of Order on March 10, and Kiri Pritchard-McLean will have Empathy Pains on February 6.

With voiceovers and stand-up like you’ve never seen before, Janey is back with hilarious patter from Theresa May in Torremolinos, Boris and his bawjaws, and Sturgeon on the big screen with all the latest goss.

So tell all the Sandras, Big Frank and all the lassies fresh from Zumba to grab the soup pot and be ready for the Queen of Scottish Comedy.

Hot from her recent appearances on BBC’s Have I Got News for You and BBC Scotland’s Breaking the News, Glasgow’s very own Janey Godley has over 20 years of performing award-winning comedy around the world – from Newcastle to New Zealand, and everywhere in between.

With over 40 million hits online and 6,000-plus subscribers to her YouTube channel, Janey Godley has added icing to the cake of her stand-up career (which boasts sell-out shows at both the Edinburgh and Glasgow comedy festivals) by embracing the worldwide web with her funny political voiceovers.

So much so, that she was awarded Best Online Comedy at the Scottish Comedy Awards 2019.

Janey’s talents aren’t restricted to stand-up and YouTube, however. She is also a writer and actor, and in 2019 the short film The Last Mermaid – which Janey both co-wrote and starred in – won the Best British Short Film award at the Winchester Film Festival.

She also took to the screen in Wild Rose, a 2018 feature-length film with Julie Walters. This year is due to see the release of a new book, written by Janey and published by Hodder.

Bec Hill, born in Adelaide but now based in the UK, Bec incorporates arts and crafts into her stand-up routines in something she calls paper-puppetry, which is likened to pop-up books or the Japanese storytelling technique of Kamishibai.

In 2016, she was a co-host of Sky’s DC Fancast with Des Taylor and Rick Edwards.

She has also appeared on several series of CBBC’s panel show The Dog Ate My Homework, and starred in the 2014 Sundance UK Grand Jury Prize-winning short film Russian Roulette, directed by Ben Aston.

Bec’s one-liners have featured in best-joke lists for media outlets such as the Telegraph, Dave, The Guardian, The Independent and Buzzfeed. She has also appeared in a worst-joke list.

Bec has also written for The Amazing World of Gumball, Bluestone 42 and The Now Show. Her short animation directorial debut, Scoring Points, aired on Disney XD in 2016.

Kiri Pritchard-McLean has been seen on TV on Have I Got News for You, Live at the Apollo, 8 Out Of 10 Cats, and Frankie Boyle’s New World Order.

Empathy Pains is her fourth full-length show, following performances that have seen her tackle structural racism, sexism, child grooming, adoption and emotional abuse.

A spokesman said: “What seemingly unfunny subject has she picked to turn into laughs this year? Chernobyl? The shrinking size of creme eggs? No, empathy. Which sounds fine actually but maybe not the way Kiri tackles it.

Kiri thinks that we live in a time where empathy is seen as a weakness like asthma or being first to pull away from a handshake. But why is that? Surely what we need in these divided times is more empathy?”
