CAR crime is on the rise again across the region after a decrease during lockdown.

And West Yorkshire Police say a return to ‘traditional’ methods of protecting your vehicle, such as steering-wheel locks and crook locks, could be the answer.

“Car crime is constantly evolving and offenders are increasingly using technology to gain entry into vehicles,” said force crime prevention officer, Paul Denison.

“This is why reintroducing a steering-wheel lock to your vehicle is a great ‘old school’ security measure.

“It is a simple yet effective tool to protect your vehicle. It is also a visual deterrent.”

He says that when buying a steering-wheel lock or any crime prevention product, ensure it is Sold Secure tested or Secured by Design (SBD) approved.
