SKIPTON man Will Moyle is preparing a 335 mile virtual cycle tour of England to raise money for Humankind’s Service User Fund.

Will, lead practitioner at the drug and alcohol service North Yorkshire Horizons, aims to cover the miles over three days as he cycles on a 'rolling road' between Monday, September 28 and Wednesday, September 30.

He will be cycling in space provided for him outside Dave Ferguson Cycles, Albion Street, which will also be providing logistical and moral support.

Will said: “For me this is a big challenge. It will be without doubt be the biggest mileage I have done on my bike. However it is only for three days and does not compare to the challenges I see service users face on a daily basis.

“Each day at work I am proud and inspired by the people that a fighting so hard to make significant changes in their lives and this is my way of expressing my respect for them by helping to raise funds to support in peoples ongoing recovery.

“Whilst Humankind can’t run the physical Ride for Recovery this year it would be possible to simulate it. This initial thought has since evolved into the Virtual Ride for Recovery.”

Will’s virtual tour of Humankind-led recovery services across England begins in Forest Hill in London, before winding his way up to Birmingham. Day two has him striking out for Leeds, passing Stafford and Barnsley on the way, before his third day of virtual cycling leads him to South Tyneside by way of Northallerton, Bishop Auckland and Bowburn. The ride will have a total simulated climb of nearly 10,000 feet.
