A SCHEME aimed at helping the district’s over-55s to get online has received a boost.
New funding will enable the Worth Connecting programme, run by Carers’ Resource, to continue until the end of next February.
Worth Connecting assists older people to learn basic keyboard skills, access the internet and use social media.
Direct help is offered to participants, but resources are also shared with partners that mirror the project’s aims.
Programme manager, Josephine Loughran, said: “If you – or someone you know – wants to be able to use a digital device we can help, so please get in touch. We can currently offer individual telephone support and hope to be able to set-up small, safe groups in a number of locations as soon as we are able. We can also lend tablets and the means to access to the internet as necessary. We have extensive teaching materials to help people understand popular digital activities.”
