TWO Manorlands nurses defied their fear of heights to walk across an infamous bridge and raise desperately-needed funds for the hospice.

Rachael Delaney and Saima Ghafoor successfully crossed the wire Infinity Bridge, at Honister Pass in Cumbria, which is suspended 2,000 feet above the valley floor.

The duo has so far raised over £240 through an online fundraising page, at justgiving.com/fundraising/suerydermanorlands.

Rachael said: “It was an amazing experience - talk about facing your fears head on! The views were incredible and once you step out onto the rope all your stresses are gone. We are so pleased with our achievement and that money is still coming in.”

Tribute is paid by Manorlands community fundraiser Harriet Wood, who said: “A huge ‘well done’ to Rachael and Saima for facing their fears and conquering the bridge. Not only are they providing expert care and support to patients and their families every day, but they are also taking on their own fundraising activities to support the hospice.”
