CUSTOMERS at Ilkley’s Clarke Foley Centre raised £125 for Macmillan Cancer Support at their socially distanced café on September 25.

Homemade cakes, scones and brownies were made by staff and volunteers to help raise funds for the event which took place in line with all the current Covid regulations.

Michele Ince, CFC Business Manager said: “We’d like to thank everyone who came along to the Macmillan Coffee Morning and made the morning a success. It’s heartening to know that we can all still pull together to support a worthwhile cause in these uncertain times.”

The Clarke Foley Centre recently re-opened, after the Coronavirus lockdown, with a new layout that allows social distancing for visitors to the cafe and community centre.

Michele added: “It is wonderful to see so many people, new and familiar faces coming into Clarke Foley, both for the Macmillan Coffee Morning and for our regular café opening. We have worked hard to put measures in place to create a secure socially distanced environment and we look forward to welcoming visitors back for classes and groups which are gradually resuming. And, of course, we’re open every weekday for coffee, cake and lunch!”

The Macmillan coffee morning is one of the UK’s longest-running fundraising events but, according to Macmillan Cancer Support, the charity is facing a staggering 71 per cent drop (£20m) income. Staff and volunteers at Clarke Foley were keen to offer support to the charity and held the fundraiser for Macmillan.
