A MAJOR tourism awards ceremony – featuring two finalists from the Worth Valley – is to be held online for the first time in its history.

The Welcome to Yorkshire White Rose Awards will take place digitally on Monday, November 23, at 7pm.

Hosts will be Natalie Anderson and Rich Williams. Everyone who ‘attends’ the event is being encouraged to dress-up for the occasion, despite the different format.

Head judge, Elaine Lemm, said: “There’s no keeping our fabulous Yorkshire tourism and hospitality businesses down. We may not be able to celebrate together in the usual way, but celebrate we will!”

Finalists include Bronte Bars and Events, which is one of six contenders shortlisted for the Tourism Event Award in recognition of its Gin Express Experience – staged in partnership with the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway. And Higher Scholes Cottage – at Pickles Hill, Oakworth – is up against five other contenders in the Self-catering Accommodation of the Year category.
