A SKIPTON man has hit out at an anonymous note which was pushed through his Skipton letter box yesterday.
Michael Knox said the message read that the pandemic was a 'hoax'.
He said: "Yesterday I received in my post box a crude scrap of paper claiming that Covid-19 is a hoax and that all the measures being suggested to defeat the illness are ineffective.
"I'd like to know firstly, did many others in Skipton get this flyer and, secondly, would the person who delivered it like to meet the families of some of the 111 people in our area who have died from it? Perhaps they would also like to tell the staff at Airedale Hospital that they have all been conned for the last seven months."
Mr Knox was concerned that such letters posted through random letter boxes could have serious repercussions among people who have already suffered since the pandemic began.
He said: "At a time when many people are on their own and feeling vulnerable and everyone is tired of Covid spreading, this type of ill-informed opinion is tantamount to incitement to self-injure."
