AN Italian coffee shop has donated the net profits from its first year of trading to a children’s charity.
Danchinos, based at Cullingworth Village Hall, has presented over £4,400 – which also includes proceeds from a collection box – to Compassion UK.
“It is a wonderful charity which supports children living in extreme poverty in 25 countries around the world,” says Danchinos’ Danny Colecchia.
“We are delighted to be able to give our support. The money has been channelled into an intervention project in Togo, which is providing clean water and sanitation for approximately 4,500 people in 21 communities.
“Many children no longer suffer from stomach aches and can now drink and wash with clean water, all because of the people of Cullingworth and surrounding areas – a real community project to celebrate in these difficult times.”
Danny took early retirement in 2016 after almost 40 years in industry.
The coffee shop was launched in June last year.
“I’d had a vision for a long time to own a coffee shop and draw upon my Italian heritage,” he said.
