A GOLF club’s lady captain holed £1,000 for Dementia Friendly Keighley (DFK).

Mo Watkinson chose the charity to benefit from fundraising last year, during her term as lady captain at Keighley Golf Club.

The main events were a charity golf competition – where all the fees were donated – and a Solheim cup contest, when the ladies challenged the men.

In addition to the cheque, Mo also donated DFK branded pens and a large number of twiddle muffs – which help provide visual and tactile stimulation for people with dementia.

“I was new to golf when I joined the Keighley club in 2007 and was honoured to be asked to become lady captain for 2019,” she said.

“I was keen to look for a local charity and Dementia Friendly Keighley fit my requirement. I was amazed at the range of services on offer. I handed out some patterns for twiddle muffs and they soon started to appear!”

She said a lot of people had spoken to her about how dementia had impacted on their lives.
