A BRADFORD manufacturing firm has confirmed a “small number” of its staff have tested positive for coronavirus.

The staff members at Powell UK, based on Ripley Road, have tested positive for Covid, after the firm identified a ‘small number of isolated cases associated with its employees’ during the pandemic.

The electrical engineering manufacturer also confirmed it is following the strictest safety protocols across all of its facilities.

A Powell UK spokesman says to respect the privacy and safety of its employees, the firm will not be disclosing specific details. But it added full and transparent reporting has occurred with its employees and Public Health England.

John Birchall, managing director, International Operations at Powell UK, said: “Powell is a leader in electrical distribution solutions; the safety of our employees, vendors and customers alike is the cornerstone of our operating model. “We have, throughout the period of the Coronavirus pandemic, identified a small number of isolated cases associated with our employees.

“To respect the privacy and safety of our employees, we cannot elaborate on current health status of our employees. “That said, we continue to adhere to the strictest of protocols across all of our facilities to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our employees and their families as we continue to provide our customers with the essential products and services that they require. “In addition to the COVID-Secure measures at our facilities, we require employees to stay at home if they are feeling unwell or if any members of their family are exhibiting symptoms, or have had possible exposure to COVID-19.

“We continue to work with Public Health England to closely monitor our COVID-Secure measures to ensure that they align with National and Local guidance. “I take the opportunity to wish the affected employees, and their families, a speedy recovery.”
