A COUNCILLOR has donated £150 of discretionary MICE funding to help people with autism.

Cllr Paul Wadsworth, who represents Guiseley and Rawdon, has given the money to help Yorkshire-based specialist Autism Services buy IT equipment to help deliver remote support to clients.

Cllr Wadsworth said 2020 had been a challenging year, with many things we all took for granted not being available. For those who rely on routine and need additional support, remote meetings are a way of continuing when face to face meetings are not an option.

He said:“I am delighted to be able to support Specialist Autism Services in the excellent work they do not just in Guiseley and Rawdon, but across the city. 2020 has been a challenging year for us all in so many ways. Many of the freedoms and routines that we had become so used to, were ripped up and thrown out of the window.

“In helping them with their information technology needs, I am confident they will be able to continue their excellent work and remotely assist those who need their services while home visits are not an option.”
