A BIKE shop run by a Cullingworth couple is in the running for a coveted national award.
Pennine Cycles has been shortlisted for the Britain’s Best Small Shop crown.
The contest is organised by the Independent Retailers Confederation.
Sandra Corcoran, who runs Pennine Cycles – in Thornton Road, Bradford – with husband Paul, said: “We are passionate about cycling. We want to ensure people have a bike which fits them and is safe, not just sell them what we have in stock.
“Many of our customers have become friends. We have built an engaged community both on and offline of cycling fans.”
The business was founded, as Whitaker and Mapplebeck Cycles, in 1946.
Paul and Sandra became owners 20 years ago. At that time, Paul managed the shop. They sell all bikes including children’s, hybrids and BMXs, plus accessories and apparel.
The award winner will be announced next month.
