JUDITH ‘Judy’ Hilary Brown passed away peacefully at home in Cross Hills on Monday, October 19 aged 65. Judith will be remembered for her outstanding work as a business consultant, her love of travel and her passion for running.

She worked hard as a consultant on major projects for The Post Office, the charity, the NSPCC, and BBC iPlayer. She also worked for Equitable Life, NHS IT Programme, Barclays Bank, Premier Farnell and Dimension Data in South Africa, Mellon Fund Administration and Legal and General.

Even up until recently, and long after she retired, calls were still coming in from large organisations asking if she would be willing to handle projects for them.

Between contracts Judy travelled the world. She hiked and ran in the Himalayas, saw the sunrise from the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro and whale watched in the Antarctic. She visited many of the unspoilt regions in Asia before they were developed.

In recent years she joined a Rotary Club in Parys, South Africa, and soon became it’s secretary and then president. She took part in many charitable projects and took several hundreds of pairs of running and school shoes out to South Africa to give to those in need. Many of these were donated by Skipton parkrunners.

Judith took up running while in her 20s. She combined her love of running with her love of travel, running marathons around the world including in Boston and Chicago, in the United States, and in Paris, France. She often came first in her age group, and ran the London marathon 20 times, including four times joining the elite start.

Judy is survived by her two sisters Elizabeth and Helen and her devoted partner Peter. Her funeral is due to be held at Skipton Crematorium on Thursday, October 29 at 10am.
