MEMBERS of the Cave Rescue Organisation (CRO) went to the aid of a walker who had injured herself in the area of Whernside yesterday.
A team went out to help the woman, who was walking with three others, at just after 2pm on Monday. She had injured her lower leg, and although able to walk slowly, with assistance, the group was some distance from its vehicle, and had become cold and wet, because of Monday’s heavy rain and gusty winds.
A CRO spokesperson said: “Team members responded to a rendezvous point near Ribblehead, and whilst a vehicle with team members aboard made it’s way towards Force Gill aqueduct by the access track, another team member headed directly on foot to locate the casualty and party, who were found making there way slowly along the track towards Blea Moor signal box. The party were put into the team vehicle, and conveyed back to their own vehicle at Ribblehead.”
