A GROWING Keighley company has moved to bigger premises – and is launching its first-ever TV advertising campaign.

Online toy retailer PoundToy, founded in 2016, has seen 157 per cent year-on-year growth.

The family-operated firm has recently relocated from Cross Roads to a site in Brewery Street, Keighley.

And jobs are being created.

A further 50 staff have been recruited to help meet demand, taking the total workforce to 78.

The firm is now fully operational around the clock, with three shifts, to ensure social distancing requirements can be met.

“Launching the TV ad is an exciting next step,” says Rob Owlett, the company’s marketing director.

“PoundToy has gone from strength to strength and we have had to employ more staff to help with the huge demand.

“I am incredibly proud to say that 100 per cent of our workforce is either from, or lives in, the Keighley area. This was always one of the things we wanted to achieve as a business – to employ great people from our local area that we grew-up in.”

All the staff have either been hired directly or through Rotherwood Recruitment in Keighley.

PoundToy sells branded character toys and games for children of all ages.

Its TV commercial, produced by Sheffield-based Relish Media, uses footage of real customers opening their deliveries.

The ad, which can be seen at https://youtu.be/qzxWU5-6tyI, will air on ITV Yorkshire.

Tribute is paid to the company by Keighley MP Robbie Moore, who visited its new premises.

He was given a tour of the site and shown the operation in action.

Founder Elliot Lumb told him that the biggest challenge at present was staying on top of the speed of the firm’s growth.

Mr Moore said: “PoundToy is a supplier of children’s toys at discount rates and by buying in bulk and selling online, it has expanded its business over three years or so from a Cross Roads warehouse to a more substantial Keighley site.

“PoundToy could end-up saving Christmas for a lot of families, who are having to celebrate on a reduced budget this year.

“I’m glad that a business looking to grow has seen Keighley as a logical place to expand to.

“It’s a sign that people view this as a great place to invest and do business in.”
