NORTHERN Education Trust – whose schools include Merlin Top in Keighley – has launched a challenge to help people keep fit and raise money for charity.
As part of the Passport to 2021 Challenge, pupils, staff and wider school communities are being encouraged to take on different exercises in the run-up to the Christmas holidays. The aim is to complete 2,021 exercises.
Half the proceeds from donations will go to the Sick Children’s Trust and the remainder to support needy families of pupils within the trust’s 21 academies.
A spokesman said: “The pandemic has seen many people affected in different ways.
“We want to try to give our students, staff and wider community something positive to focus on until we break-up for Christmas. That is why we are launching our challenge, in the hope that 2021 will be a better year.
“It is a chance to have some much-needed fun and take part in any exercise that people feel comfortable doing, safely and observing all the Government Covid guidelines, whilst raising money for two great causes.”
Pupils will be given badges and ‘passports’, in which they can record their exercises.
And on completion, the youngsters will be awarded certificates.
