STEETON-with-Eastburn’s Christmas lights will be switched-on virtually on Sunday, November 29.

And residents are encouraged to launch their own festive displays at the same time, 4.30pm.

Volunteers resurrected Christmas lights in the villages several years ago.

Fundraising events, sponsorship and support from Ringway Highway Maintenance have seen the number of lights grow – with the highlight normally being a switch-on ceremony and Christmas market on the village green. But the pandemic has led to the cancellation of all fundraising activities this year.

“We can afford to turn on the lights this year but 2021 is in serious doubt unless we are able to raise the necessary funds,” said a spokesman.
