SEVEN-YEAR-OLD Henry Varley has been given a medal after raising hundreds of pounds for older people.
Henry decided to run one mile a day for seven days after being inspired by Kevin Sinfield’s efforts for Rob Burrows and the MND Association. The Yeadon Westfield Junior School pupil decided to support AVSED (Aireborough Voluntary Services to the Elderly).Volunteer engagement officer Michelle Phillips said Henry had done some of his running in Nunroyd park, where AVSED is based, with his mum, dad and brother supporting him.
She said:”So far he has raised over £525 which is phenomenal especially given the time of year. AVSED spoke with Santa and were able to get him a special medal to say thank you for his hard work and selfless act and Henry even took our Elf on the Shelf for his last mile run with him. He is truly an inspiring little lad and we are so grateful for his and his family’s support.”
