DOCTORS are urging people to check their opening times over Christmas and New Year.
Westgate Surgery in Otley, operated by OnePrimaryCare, says patients should be aware of when they can seek medical advice and care over the festive break.
The practice is open as usual on Christmas Eve but will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day as well as December 27 and 28. Patients are also being advised to use NHS 111 for advice should they need help when their practice is closed - or to contact a local urgent care centre if needed.
Practice Manager at Westgate Surgery, Gemma Ellison, said: “Whilst we hope the residents of Otley have a wonderful, healthy holiday we are asking everyone to be as prepared as possible.
“Make sure you have enough medicine to keep well, know what local services are available when your GP is closed, and cancel unwanted appointments so we can allocate them to other patients.
The surgery is also recommending that people order their prescriptions in plenty of time.
