RESIDENTS in Wharfedale and Aireborough are being urged to comment on the policing budget for the coming year.
West Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner Mark Burns-Williamson is asking people to share their views on what the level of police precept for the area should be.
He said: “I have launched an online survey on the police budget which is asking how you would like to see money raised for the police part of the local council tax. I am very aware that these are hugely challenging times so before any recommendations on the budget are made I would like to know what you think.
“The survey only takes a few minutes and I would really value your feedback as I look to prepare the final proposals that will determine the level of investment for West Yorkshire Police in 2021/22 and beyond.
“Please give me your views by completing the survey online at www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/Police2021.”
Police and crime commissioners now have the flexibility to raise their precepts by up to £15 a year on a Band D property. Mr Burns-Williamson added: “By increasing the police precept I can provide extra resources to support the recruitment of more police officers for our neighbourhoods, keeping us all safe.”
