NORTHERN – in common with the rest of the UK rail industry – is introducing amended timetables from Monday.

There will be a reduced service on some routes, with overall capacity also cut.

Northern, which operates trains on the Airedale line, is advising anyone who has to travel to check before setting off.

The move is in response to the latest national lockdown.

Tricia Williams, for the company, said: “We will focus on delivering services during the morning and evening peaks so those who need to travel can get to where they’re required and have the space to maintain social distancing.

"We’ll continue with our programme of enhanced cleaning on trains and at stations to keep our customers as safe as possible and to reduce the risk of transmission while travelling with Northern.”
