VOLUNTEERS have rallied round to help make a Covid-19 vaccination centre a success.

The Modality Partnership, which has set-up the centre at Long Lee, pays tribute to the community for its backing.

Offers of support flooded in to get the facility up and running.

Resident Mick Dowse offered to grit the car park – in recognition of which the partnership made a donation to Sue Ryder hospice Manorlands – and volunteers helped with traffic duties.

Cliffe Castle donated some pop-up gazebos to provide shelter.

And Keighley Leisure Centre staff have assisted with patient flows and ensuring social distancing is observed.

Bill Graham, for Modality, said: “It’s been incredible to see the community pull together to help get the Long Lee centre established. Thanks to all the volunteers who made this possible – it has been a true team effort!”

Chris Graham – a local resident and town councillor – thanked the doctors, nurses and admin staff. She added: “They have worked continuously and always with a smile on their faces.”

The centre can vaccinate over 500 people a day and with a second facility planned, that figure is set to rise to thousands each week.
