YORKSHIRE Building Society – which has a branch in Low Street, Keighley – has announced a two-year charity partnership with Age UK.
Money raised will help launch a new programme, Building Better Lives. The initiative aims to help prevent older people most in need from reaching financial crisis point, through providing one-to-one support.
Around 1.9 million older people in the UK are currently living in poverty.
Mike Regnier, for Yorkshire Building Society, said: “Now more than ever, older people need a trusted place they can turn to for support. The pandemic has intensified what was already a dire situation for many vulnerable older people. We are proud to have chosen Age UK as our next charity partner – and we are excited to work together to help ensure all older people have someone to turn to in times of crisis.”
