AN appeal has been issued to businesses across the region to donate surplus IT equipment for young learners.

The plea has been made by West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce.

It says some apprentices, trainees and adult education learners struggle to access the digital equipment they need.

A scheme to support them has been launched by chamber member West Yorkshire Learning Providers.

All donated equipment is wiped clean to comply with data protection and other security regulations.

Mike Cartwright, for the chamber, said: “Various news reports have revealed that young people are being adversely affected by the pandemic, including finding employment.

“Being able to access learning from their homes will continue to be important this year. That’s why we are encouraging local businesses to look through their IT stock to consider if anything can be donated to this worthy project.”

Two drop-off points are currently operating, in Bradford, but it’s hoped to set-up more. To arrange a donation, email beth.vickers@wylp.org.uk or call 01274 665454.
