STUDENTS at a Keighley school are giving-up some of their Easter holidays to attend extra GCSE revision sessions.

Staff at University Academy Keighley volunteered their time too, to deliver the sessions in subjects including English, maths, ICT, sports education, science, history and geography.

The initiative was organised due to pupils having to spend a large proportion of time out of school through periods of lockdown or self-isolation.

One student commented: “I decided to come to Easter School because I knew it would benefit me.”

Deputy head of school, Mark Turvey, said: “It is fantastic to see so many of our students taking every opportunity available to them to be successful.

“We know that the students have been through some challenging times during their journey in year 11. As a school we want to do everything we can to ensure they get the success they deserve and are not held back by events beyond their control.

“The resilience and determination that these young people have shown to face and overcome the challenges makes me incredibly proud of them.”
