GRANT aid is being made available to businesses in the district to help them as they reopen.

Bradford Council has released details of its next round of so-called Additional Restrictions Grants.

They include outdoor-trading payments of up to £1,500 for eligible businesses to help cover the cost of facilities such as outside seating, lighting and barriers.

Grants are also available for some home-based and mobile self-employed businesses which have not been able to apply for other Government support.

Jason Longhurst, the council’s interim strategic director of place, advises businesses of what will be required when applying.

“We will have to see evidence of the need for the grant as well as details of the business bank account so that we can pay the money,” he said.

“The ‘outdoor trading’ grant can be paid retrospectively, which means it can include costs incurred preparing to reopen dating back to the start of February.

“We also want to make sure outdoor hospitality areas are managed safely and within the Government’s Covid-secure guidelines.”
