A CROSS Hills chemical company has seen sales of its disinfectants soar during the pandemic.
Airedale Chemical says sales of peracetic acid, a highly effective biocide, have risen by 30 per cent in the past year.
As more businesses prepare for the return of workers during the easing of lockdown restrictions, the firm is encouraging employers to ensure the disinfectants they’re buying are fully compliant with regulations.
“We are urging people to make sure that their supplier and the products they’re buying are approved by the European Chemicals Agency and feature on article 95 – which is the list of approved substances and suppliers,” said Daniel Marr, group chief commercial officer with Airedale Chemical. “The chemical industry is one of the most highly regulated in the world, which means there are many rules in place to protect people and the environment.”
