KEIGHLEY Soroptimists have been planting trees as part of an international celebration.

Members – together with Ian Butterfield and Jan Bruce, from YORgreencic – planted native saplings at a farm near Addingham Moorside.

And five heritage apple trees were planted within an expanding orchard in the grounds of Cliffe Castle.

“The hope is that in years to come people will be able to enjoy the fruit as part of events like Apple Day in October,” said a spokesman.

“The tree planting forms part of an event for all Soroptimist International clubs to celebrate 100 years of activism.”
