A MAJOR police operation in Keighley to "tackle and disrupt" organised crime has been hailed a success.

Six arrests were made, and five cars and a substantial amount of drugs – plus up to £10,000 in cash – were seized.

A can of CS spray and a knuckle duster were also recovered.

Officers from Bradford's Programme Precision Team spearheaded the operation.

A number of warrants were executed at various locations in Keighley, on Monday and yesterday.

Those arrested included a man wanted on recall to prison.

And another person arrested was found with 500 wraps of Class A drugs. He was subsequently charged and appeared in court yesterday, where he pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Daniel Coyle, 22, of Moorhouse Avenue, Bradford, will next appear at Bradford Crown Court on May 5.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Farrell, of Bradford District Police, said: “Operations such as this are incredibly important for the local community and the teams have been working tirelessly on planning it. We hope that the local residents and businesses of Keighley feel reassured and confident in our efforts to tackle criminality and keep them safe.

“We remain committed to doing everything in our power to ensure the safety of all people who live in, work in and visit Bradford and to target those individuals who are involved in drug dealing and organised crime.

“This positive action and results was led by intelligence and information we received from the local communities; we have used all the information provided and this has been our direct response. I cannot stress how vital some intelligence we receive is and I would continue to encourage local communities to come forward with any concerns or issues.”
