A KEIGHLEY builders’ merchant is taking part in a national scheme offering discounts to NHS workers.

Travis Perkins – which has a branch in Haincliffe Road – is supporting the Builders Merchants Federation initiative, launched to recognise the work of healthcare staff during the pandemic.

Thirty-three members of the federation are taking part in the scheme, which will run for six months.

Each merchant is offering its own deals, which average out at ten per cent off items’ shelf-price. Some products may be excluded. NHS identity information needs to be shown to receive a discount.

Kieran Griffin, managing director of Travis Perkins, said: “The pandemic has shown incredible examples of personal sacrifice, generosity and community spirit, and from the start our colleagues played their part by donating building supplies and PPE to keep NHS workers safe.

“We’re proud to take part in this initiative and offer NHS workers a discount when they buy from us as a small recognition and thank-you to those who have been – and remain – on the frontline caring for us and our families.”

John Newcomb, for the federation, said: “Throughout the pandemic our NHS workers have gone above and beyond. As an industry, we wanted to come together and thank them.”
