INFORMATION booklets about the new role of West Yorkshire mayor are being sent to households across the region.

West Yorkshire Combined Authority is distributing the material to every home.

The booklet includes a summary of the mayoral role and a ‘mini manifesto’ from each of the seven candidates.

Voting for the new mayor takes place alongside the local council elections on May 6.

The 24-page guide also includes details of how to vote and what measures will be in place to guard against the spread of Covid-19.

A combined authority spokesman said: “Local returning officers across the region are working with the Electoral Commission to put in place additional safety measures to make sure polling stations will be safe.”
