MORE than 65 per cent of adults in the Keighley parliamentary constituency – which also includes Ilkley – have now received their first Covid-19 vaccination, latest figures show.

All over-50s, health and social care workers and the clinically vulnerable have been offered a jab. The milestone was achieved ahead of the April 15 target.

Now people in the 40-49 age group are being invited to receive their first dose, whilst the rollout of second jabs continues.

Nationally, nearly 40 million vaccines have now been given in total.

The Government says the UK remains on track to offer a first vaccine to all adults by July 31.

Keighley MP Robbie Moore describes the progress of the programme as “fantastic and inspiring”.

He added: “The more people we get vaccinated, the easier and more risk-free it will be to continue opening-up the nation.

“Locally the NHS and health services have done a fantastic job with rolling out the vaccine as far and wide as possible. I pay particular thanks to Dr Matt Curtis, Bill Graham and the entire team of staff and volunteers at the Modality Partnership, who have led a number of vaccine outreach programmes at mosques, churches and a women’s centre.

“I am confident we will offer a vaccine to all adults by July 31 as well as sticking to the roadmap out of lockdown.”
