A GROUP of teenage friends conquered the Yorkshire Three Peaks at the weekend – and raised over £2,400 for charity.

Thomas Beever, Mitchell Hardaker, Oliver Grundy, Feargus Mansell, Harley Debny-Succoia and Jonathan Day completed the gruelling 24-mile route in just over nine hours.

The energy-draining challenge includes the summits of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.

The pals – who are all in their late teens and from the Silsden and South Craven area – were coining-in cash for the Motor Neurone Disease Association, in tribute to the “amazing” support it has given to one of the group’s family members.

Donations can still be made, at justgiving.com/fundraising/harley-debney-succoia1.

Thomas’ mum, Amanda, whose father has motor neurone disease, says: “I’m extremely proud that Thomas and his friends wanted to do something to make a difference. They were exhausted and sporting lots of blisters at the end but they completed the challenge and have raised a fantastic amount.

“Seeing first-hand what the disease does is heartbreaking. The charity is a cause very close to our hearts.”

The Motor Neurone Disease Association supports people with the disease and their families through a range of services, and funds research. For more details, visit mndassociation.org.
