DEMENTIA Friendly Keighley welcomed a new inclusivity worker – as the charity reopened its centre to the public.
Shomana Begum’s role will include engaging with the wider Keighley and Black Asian and Minority Ethnic communities to ensure activities are accessible.
“My first impression of Dementia Friendly Keighley was that it lives-up to its name – everyone is so friendly and it’s lovely to be part of such a welcoming team,” she said.
“I hope to build-up a relationship with the local community and ensure people know what we have to offer.”
The appointment is welcomed by the organisation’s manager, Julie Lintern.
“I hope it will enable us to raise awareness and understanding of dementia and the support available to those living with the condition – as well as the help available to their carers,” she said.
The Dementia Friendly Keighley information and support centre is currently open weekdays, between 10.30am and 1.30pm, by appointment only. Covid safety measures are in place. The helpline is available daily between 10am and 2pm. People can call 01535 602529 or SMS/WhatsApp 07452 773788.
