LABOUR Party deputy leader Angela Rayner was on the elections campaign trail in Keighley at the weekend.

She and the party’s West Yorkshire mayoral candidate, Tracy Brabin, canvassed across the town and met officials from the GMB and Unison unions who briefed the visitors on a fair-pay campaign involving AGH Solutions workers.

They also discussed Airedale NHS Foundation Trust plans for a new state-of-the-art hospital to replace the current complex, which would create Europe’s first zero-carbon facility of its kind.

Due to Covid regulations, the briefing took place outside – in the grounds of Cliffe Castle.

The visit was organised by Keighley’s former Labour MP, John Grogan.

* Other candidates standing in the West Yorkshire mayoral election are Waj Ali (Reform UK), Bob Buxton (Yorkshire Party), Andrew Varah Cooper (Green), Stewart Golton (Liberal Democrats), Therese Hirst (English Democrats-Putting England First) and Matt Robinson (Conservative).
