A SUCCESSFUL internship has led to a Keighley College student being offered a permanent post with a manufacturer.

Max Soundy, who was studying fabrication and welding, began working part-time at Acorn Stairlifts in Steeton six months ago on a supported internship.

He worked alongside experienced staff members on the pre-assembly line.

Bosses were so impressed, they offered him a full-time production operative role.

Factory manager, Andrew Longthorne, says: “Max’s eagerness to learn is commendable; he always jumps at any opportunity to develop his abilities.

“His dedication to the role was demonstrated by his willingness to work additional hours.”

Emma Rich, the supported internship manager at Keighley College, said: “It’s amazing to see how Max has grown in confidence since joining Acorn Stairlifts. The staff have been incredibly committed to nurturing his skills and knowledge over the past few months.”
