KEIGHLEY Sea and Royal Marines Cadets are buoyant after a donation from the town’s Rotary club.

The unit has been presented with five, two-man Vango tents.

“One of our targets for the year ahead – once restrictions are lifted – is to get the cadets working towards various Duke of Edinburgh’s Award qualifications in memory of the Duke,” said a spokesman. “The tents are a vital resource to help the cadets achieve the qualifications.

“A huge ‘thank you’ goes from all our cadets and adult volunteers to Keighley Rotary Club, which has worked extremely hard over the last year raising funds for us and other charities – and a special thanks to president Mike Baines. We are absolutely thrilled with this donation.”

The cadets take part in a range of activities, from sailing to field craft.

The unit, now under the command of recently-appointed PO Terry Joyce, has resumed face-to-face training and is seeking new adult volunteers.

Roles available include staff, unit assistants and committee members.
