HAWORTH was transformed as filming got underway for a sequel to the classic family movie, The Railway Children.

The 1970 film version of Edith Nesbit’s timeless tale was shot on location in the Worth Valley.

And crews were back to shoot scenes for The Railway Children Return, whose cast includes Sheridan Smith and star of the original film, Jenny Agutter.

For the latest filming, locations in Haworth Main Street were rebranded as Oakworth.

And the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, which was catapulted into the global spotlight after the 1970 film’s release, is once again playing a leading role.

Worth Valley councillor, Rebecca Poulsen, said she was delighted that the sequel – due to hit the big screen in April next year – was being filmed in Haworth.

“We hope locally that when the film comes out next year it will bring visitors to the area and be a boost for tourism,” she added. “It has been amusing to see shops in Haworth being rebranded Oakworth and the pub changing its name.”
