DIGITAL infrastructure company Telent has been awarded a contract to maintain traffic signals across West Yorkshire – including the Bradford district.

The contract – which runs until 2025, with an optional extension up to eight years – also includes the maintenance and repair of other roadside infrastructure such as lights and vehicle monitors.

Telent says jobs are being created as a result in Bradford and other local-authority areas across West Yorkshire. Installers and a contracts co-ordinator are currently being recruited, plus some staff have been transferred from the previous supplier.

“We’ve successfully mobilised this project within a very short period to provide these authorities with the support to continue keeping their residents and visitors as safe as possible on the roads,” said Telent spokesman Nigel Weldon.

“We look forward to strengthening our position in the region and delivering our expertise and experience. This follows a string of recent successes including five-year extensions to contracts with West Sussex and Kent county councils and a new contract with Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council.”
