A LIFESAVING defibrillator has been installed at Airedale Cricket Club in Riddlesden.

The equipment will be accessible to members and the wider community.

It is the fourth defibrillator to be donated to communities over the past three years by Cross Hills-based Airedale Chemical.

Cricket club secretary, Barbara Cox, said: “Sadly there are more than 3,000 cardiac arrests outside of hospitals in Yorkshire each year, with only one in ten of those people surviving.

“With this defibrillator we’re in a much stronger position to save lives, with survival rates rising up to 90 per cent when used within one minute and about 74 per cent when utilised within three to five minutes of cardiac arrest. We’re incredibly grateful to Airedale Chemical for this most valuable of donations.”

Chris Chadwick, managing director of Airedale Chemical, said the company was committed to giving back as much as possible to communities. “During the last 12 months it has been much more difficult to engage with our neighbours but by continuing our programme of defibrillators we have been able to ensure we’re still contributing something positive,” he added.
