KEIGHLEY people are being urged to take the plunge to raise money for a children’s hospice.

Martin House is staging an abseil event – in conjunction with Yorkshire Adventure Company – at the Cow & Calf Rocks, Ilkley, on July 17.

All proceeds will go to the Boston Spa hospice, which cares for children and young people with life-limiting conditions from across the region.

It costs nearly £9 million a year to run Martin House and most of the money has to be found through donations or fundraising.

Like other charities it has been hit hard financially by the impact of the pandemic.

Maddie Bentley, events fundraiser at the hospice, said: “The Cow & Calf is an amazing place – we can’t think of a better spot to have an adventure like abseiling.

“You don’t need to have any experience to take part, just a head for heights – and be willing to raise some money!”

It costs £25 to register and there is a suggested sponsorship target of £175.
