A VILLAGE church is staging its first event in over a year following the latest easing of lockdown restrictions.

St Stephen’s, at Steeton-with-Eastburn, is holding a duck fair on Saturday, July 31.

There will be a duck race in the stream, plus attractions such as hook-a-duck, a duck trail, cakes, books, themed crafts for children, a raffle, tombola, games and refreshments, including hot dogs.

The event, which runs from 1pm to 4pm, will also feature a display of children’s artwork.

Youngsters aged four to 12 are invited to draw, paint, collage or create a digital picture – on A4 paper – of anything connected with ducks.

Entries should be handed in at Steeton Post Office, in Elmsley Street, by 11.30am this Saturday (July 24).

All the entries will be exhibited at the event and there will be three prizes.

A church spokesperson said: “ We are really excited to be welcoming people back and hope that everyone will have a great time.

"There will be fun for all the family.”
