KEIGHLEY MP Robbie Moore has had a top-level meeting at the Bradford-based Consulate of Pakistan.
He had discussions with the consul general, Ibrar Hussain Khan.
It followed a successful meeting in London earlier this year with His Excellency Moazzam Ahmad Khan, high commissioner for Pakistan, to discuss the situation in Kashmir.
Mr Moore said: “It was great to meet with the consul general Ibrar Hussain Khan to discuss issues relating to my constituents. It is vital that I have conversations like this to ensure that all sections of Keighley and Ilkley are represented at the highest level.
“It was also essential that I spoke with Ibrar Hussain Khan about the current situation in Kashmir and to see what more I can do to raise this matter in parliament and with colleagues in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.”
Following the meeting, he spoke in a Foreign Office Commons debate on human rights abuses. In his question, Mr Moore described the situation in Kashmir as “deeply disturbing – with thousands arrested and facing harassment and imprisonment”.
