CARE home residents enjoyed a picnic at the beach – without leaving the grounds.

The garden of Anchor’s Townend Close complex at Cross Hills was transformed in celebration of National Picnic Month.

Residents were given picnic baskets packed with goodies.

And the care team recreated a seaside feel, with sand, deckchairs, beach balls and themed decorations.

Treats including ice creams and candy floss were provided.

There was also entertainment, courtesy of singer Leanne King.

Resident Anne Wiseman, 83, said: “The picnic baskets were lovely and how the garden was transformed into a beach was brilliant. I had a wonderful afternoon.”

Townend Close manager, Sharon Mackie, said: “The care team has worked together to come-up with fantastic events for the summer.

“As well as continuing residents’ favourite activities, such as arts and crafts and gardening, we have launched several new events such as the Picnic at the Beach day.

“Such events are great for our residents’ physical and mental wellbeing, while being a lot of fun.”
